Meet The Team: Alice McCleery, Commercial Projects Coordinator.
Introducing Alice McCleery, our amazing Commercial Projects Coordinator based in Melbourne.
Alice brings positivity, genuine commitment and a joyful approach to everything she does, and we’re incredibly lucky to have her on the team.
While she’s one of a kind to us, she does happen to have an identical match out there, but we’ll let you keep reading to find out more.
How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at VMO so far?
After graduating from university, I found my way into the advertising industry. The fast-paced, creative, and ever-evolving nature of the industry immediately appealed to me, and it’s proven to be a great place to start my career. I love the variety. No two days are ever the same, and I’ve had the opportunity to learn so much while working with a wide range of partners.
One of the most rewarding parts of my journey at VMO has been seeing campaigns come to life in the real world. I always point them out to friends whenever we walk past a VMO screen. I’m lucky to work alongside such a supportive team, who are not only great colleagues but strong leaders and mentors.
What’s one work tip or hack you swear by that makes your day smoother?
Lists and reminders for sure. I like to map out my to-do list first thing in the morning and set reminders to keep everything on track and ensure nothing gets missed.
If you could swap roles with someone in the business, who would it be and why?
I would choose to swap roles with someone in the HOYTS sales team. They have great exposure to upcoming movie releases and entertainment partnerships, which would be both interesting and exciting to be a part of.
If you could add one item to the office kitchen, what would it be and why?
Definitely a popcorn machine as it’s my favourite snack.
What would you do differently if you were given the chance?
I’d ask more questions earlier on. Even when you think you know the answer, getting different perspectives can really broaden your understanding. Collaboration, especially within the commercial team, is incredibly valuable for refining processes and improving outcomes.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self starting out in your career?
Put yourself out there and connect with as many people as possible. Everyone brings different skills and perspectives, and there is always something to learn.
If you could master a new skill instantly, what would it be?
Being able to easily pick up a new language and communicate fluently would be an amazing skill. It would be one I would use both professionally and personally.
What's something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I have an identical twin sister.
Spill the tea (or coffee): What’s your go-to order?
In summer, it’s between an iced latte or iced matcha. In winter, I switch back to a classic latte.
