Introducing Bailey McLean, our Direct Sales Coordinator based in Melbourne.
Despite being relatively new to the team, Bailey has quickly become someone everyone loves with his colleagues describing him as witty with a charismatic personality.
When he's not at work, you'll most likely find him halfway up a rock face in the Grampians, tackling his next climbing adventure. As for his breakfast of choice before work? Maltesers, because why not start the day on a chocolatey note?

How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at VMO so far?
After completing my first year of university studying engineering, I realised it wasn’t the industry for me. At the time, my sister was working for VMO on the agency side of things as a rep when she happened to mention that a new role had opened in the direct team for a coordinator position. I immediately applied and here we are.
The best part of my journey at VMO so far has been the opportunities I've been given to not only learn and grow, but also develop my relationship-building skills both out in market and internally across the business.
What’s one work tip or hack you swear by that makes your day smoother?
Tackle the smaller, easier tasks first before moving on to the larger ones. I find that ticking off the small things not only gives you a sense of achievement and motivation, but also clears your head so you can focus on the larger tasks that remain.
If you could swap roles with someone in the business, who would it be?
I’d love to swap roles with either Cat or Joe, two of our Senior Account Managers within the Direct Sales team. It would not only allow me to work closer with my work bestie, Mattis, but I also think it would be really interesting to gain exposure across a completely new market.
If you could add one item to the office kitchen, what would it be and why?
An air fryer. Enough said.
What would you do differently if you were given the chance?
I’d budget my savings a little better so I could afford to travel more. I’ve definitely spent a bit too much on going out on the weekends, and, let’s be honest, going out in Europe with a prettier view? Sign me up.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self starting out in your career?
Prioritise sleep, meal prepping and organising your time as early as possible. The more you can prepare in advance, the smoother each day will run. Meal prepping, in particular, will save you both time and money. You'll quickly realise how easy it is for your pay cheque to disappear on lunches down Swan Street.
If you could master a new skill instantly, what would it be and how would you use it at work?
I’d love to be able to backflip. I think it would be a really impressive way to land (get it?) a pitch with a client.
What is your must-have office snack that helps get you through the workday?
Maltesers for sure.
If you could host a dream dinner party, which three famous people (alive or not) would you invite and why?
Adam Sandler - he would have some crazy stories
Laufey - one of my favourite music artists
Roger Federer - I’m a massive tennis nerd
Spill the tea (or coffee): What’s your go-to coffee order?
A strong latte.
