How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at VMO so far?
As a kid from the country, I really had no idea what the media industry even was, which is something I’m sure most of us felt when first starting out. I applied for an entry level sales position at WIN TV which I managed to secure and the rest is history. As for the best part of the journey at VMO so far, I’d have to say it’s been the people and experiences without a doubt.
What’s one work tip or hack you swear by that makes your day smoother?
I wish there was a tip or hack, but I don’t think it’s as easy as that. For me, I think it takes a combination of being disciplined and routine. In saying that, If you asked anyone else, they might say that my bad jokes are a big part of how I try to keep things light.
If you could swap roles with someone in the business, who would it be and why?
I'm not sure I'd want to swap roles with anyone in particular. I'm quietly curious about most things, so I’d love to learn about how all the different teams operate.
If you could add one item to the office kitchen, what would it be and why?
Admittedly, I’m a bit of a coffee connoisseur so I’d have to upgrade our coffee machine.
What would you do differently, if you were given the chance?
If I could do anything differently, I'd go back in time and invest in Apple and Google stocks plus Bitcoin when it was one dollar. However, more realistically I'd have chosen to travel more. I still might.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self starting out in your career?
Get yourself a better haircut, a better fitting suit and please take yourself less seriously.
What is your must-have office snack that helps you get through the workday?
I'll be honest, it's hard for me to pass up a good almond croissant, though the occasional crunchy M&M definitely hits the spot.
Finally, spill the tea (or coffee): What’s your go-to coffee order?
I've recently transitioned to a Long Black, which Google has informed me is a no-nonsense, efficient, and straightforward coffee choice.
