Meet The Team: Mattis Wochnowski, Account Executive.

Let us introduce you to Mattis Wochnowski, our brilliant Account Executive based in Sydney.

Since starting at Val Morgan through our Graduate program back in 2024, Mattis has truly become an integral part of our team. With a true knack for sales and go-getter attitude he’s definitely one to watch.

And it doesn’t stop there, did you know English is actually his second language?

No spoilers here! Keep reading to find out more.

How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at VMO so far?

As an unemployed university student, I was looking far and wide for a job when I came across the Val Morgan Graduate program. After a bit of research into the company (and seeing the 50 cent movie ticket perk) I applied instantly.

The best part of being at VMO so far has definitely been the people. There is a lot of laughter in my day and it really makes me enjoy what I do. Although I suspect this answer may change after our upcoming sales conference to Japan.

What’s one work tip or hack you swear by that makes your day smoother?

I am very list oriented and make sure to write down everything that needs to be done for both the day and the week. For me taking 10-15 minutes to plan my day, massively increases my productivity.

If you could swap roles with someone in the business, who would it be and why?

I would be very interested in swapping with any sort of manager or senior team member within the business. I would love to eventually lead my own team and be responsible for not only their success but also their development.

What skill has been most valuable to your career so far?

The most valuable skill for me has been problem solving. I pride myself on being able to look at a problem from a variety of angles to find the best solution.

If you had to teach a masterclass on one thing you're great at, what would it be?

Table tennis for sure. No explanation needed.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self starting out in your career?

Talk to everyone. One of the best things about the Val Morgan Graduate program is that you rotate through different parts of the business and work with a variety of people within the office. It’s something that I’ve really valued in helping me make connections.

What's something people would be surprised to learn about?

English is actually my second language as I grew up speaking German.

Outside of work, what's one of your personal goals for 2026?

I’ve really gotten into playing tennis the last couples of years and recently entered into a doubles competition with my brother. Winning this competition is one of my big goals for this year.

Finally, what coffee shop near the office is best and what is your go-to order?

Kingswood is definitely the best and my order is a regular cappucino. Maybe a large if I’m feeling a bit crazy!
