The Diary of a UMC Competitor: Claire Pretorius.

When it comes to the Ultimate Media Champion, the scoreboard only scratches the surface. Behind every burpee, sprint and rep is a competitor with a story worth telling. That’s where The Diary of a UMC Competitor steps in: a new profiling series dedicated to capturing the competitor journey behind the competition.

With each edition, we hand the pen to a new competitor from QLD, VIC or NSW, giving you a front-row seat to their personal road to Ultimate Media Champion glory, including the highs, hurdles and everything in between.

Introducing Claire Pretorius, Media Implementation Executive from OMD, QLD.

So Claire, what motivated you to sign up?

Alex, last year's Brisbane UMC champion, was my director and he told me how much fun it was. The winner's belt sat on his desk every day.

What's one thing you've loved the most so far?

The workouts! I love to spice up my exercise, and the different training styles have been a great shock and something I look forward to.

What personal goal (beyond winning) are you chasing by competing?

Meeting more like-minded people in the industry. It's my first year in media, and so I am hoping to learn from others as much as possible.

How would you describe your experience so far?

It has been a treat! The branded merchandise packs we received have made the early wake-ups for training completely worth it, and every week there seems to be a new surprise.

Looking ahead, what aspect of the competition are you most looking forward to?

Finals, of course! I imagine it's going to be a pretty exciting and exhausting day. The attitude of everyone in UMC has been super positive which has been fantastic to see.
