How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at VMO so far?
I stumbled into the advertising industry without a clear idea of what direction I wanted my career to go in but I was always drawn to the mix of creativity and strategy. Soon after I started, I realised how much I enjoy the pace and collaboration. The best part about my time at VMO so far has definitely been dressing up for our incredible annual Christmas Party!
What’s one work tip or hack you swear by that makes your day smoother?
I always keep a ‘done’ list alongside my to-do list. It’s oddly satisfying to see the progress I’ve made during the work day and also really helps to build your professional confidence.
If you could swap roles with someone in the business, who would it be and why?
It would have to be someone from the creative team. I’d love to see how they turn their ideas into a reality and are able to capture those perfect moments.
What would you do differently, if you were given the chance?
I’d remind myself to speak up earlier and back myself more. When you’re just starting out, it’s easy to second-guess if your ideas are ‘good enough’ but the truth is, fresh perspectives are what make the best ideas.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self starting out in your career?
Don’t stress too much about having everything figured out straight away. Focus on learning, step out of your comfort zone, and most importantly, enjoy the process!
If you could master a new skill instantly, what would it be and how would you use it at work?
Data visualisation, so I can turn complex information into visuals that actually make people go “ahh, now I get it.”
If you could host a dream dinner party, which three famous people (alive or not) would you invite and why?
Steve Carell - because every dinner needs someone witty
Ali Wong - my ultimate idol
Taylor Jenkins Reid - my favourite author
If your work emails had a theme song, what would it be?
There’s no particular theme to them so it would be a mixture of chaos and dance music.
Finally, spill the tea (or coffee): What’s your go-to coffee order?
It’s either an iced latte or iced matcha.
