How did you find yourself in the advertising industry, and what’s been the best part of your journey at VMO so far?
I started my career at Val Morgan Cinema as a coordinator before making the leap into the outdoor media world. After a few years, my passion for outdoor led me back to Val Morgan where I’ve been a group sales manager for almost 2 years at VMO. It’s been so wonderful to reconnect with amazing colleagues and meet fantastic new ones. A definite highlight has to be our Queenstown, New Zealand conference, which was unforgettable!
What’s one work tip or hack you swear by that makes your day smoother?
I always start my day with a new to-do list to ensure my priorities are correct and my mind is clear and ready to go.
If you could swap roles with someone in the business, who would it be and why?
I’d love to swap roles with Paul Butler, our Managing Director. As someone who aspires to be a Managing Director or CEO one day, I’m very interested in understanding the strategic thinking and leadership it takes to guide the VMO ship from the top.
If you could add one item to the office kitchen, what would it be and why?
It would definitely have to be dried mango slices! They’re my go-to sweet treat when I’m trying to be good.
What would you do differently, if you were given the chance?
Potentially start my career in media a bit earlier, however I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason, so I ultimately wouldn’t change anything.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to your younger self starting out in your career?
My advice is to always be open to meeting new people and building genuine connections. Through my career, I’ve made lifelong friends, which has also opened doors to many unexpected yet exciting opportunities.
If you could master a new skill instantly, what would it be and how would you use it at work?
I’m definitely mastering my presentation skills. Whether it’s a team meeting, an agency group, or a packed auditorium, the ability to present with confidence and clarity is an incredibly powerful skill.
What’s a fun fact that most people wouldn’t know about you?
I was fortunate to experience the Ivy League lifestyle through a college exchange program at Columbia University in NYC, which was pretty incredible.
What is your must-have office snack that helps you get through the workday?
Protein bars for sure! They’re my go-to snack when I’m in meetings all day or need a boost in the afternoon.
Finally, spill the tea (or coffee): What’s your go-to coffee order?
I like an iced latte on a hot day, a Piccolo on a cold day, and the occasional Soy Cap to keep it interesting! I like variety!
